Oscars: Slovenia Selects ‘History of Love’ for International Feature Category

Sonja Prosenc’s sophomore film History of Love / Zgodovina ljubezni has been selected as Slovenia’s candidate for the 92nd Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the best international feature film category. The film is a Slovenian/Norwegian/Italian coproduction.

Sonja Prosenc’s debut feature The Tree (2014) was selected by the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers (DSFU) as the country’s candidate for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards in 2016.

History of Love received the Special Jury Mention in the main competition of the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2018 and other awards at home and abroad.

History of Love had its North American premiere at Slamdance 2018 among four chosen films of the Breakouts section. “Slamdance’s new programming section, “Breakouts,” features the work of several Slamdance alumni, including Steven Soderbergh, who executive produced Beats /…/These films are by non-first-time-feature directors who demonstrate a determined vision of filmmaking that is instinctively becoming their own. The film features a renowned Scandinavian actor Kristoffer Joner (The Wave, The Revenant, Mission Impossible) and young Slovenian actress Doroteja Nadrah in main roles.
